Today, I began reading "Table for Two: Fictions" by Amor Towles. As a fan of his previous work, "A Gentleman in Moscow," I was excited to delve into some of his shorter fiction. The book contains six stories from New York City and a novella from the Golden Age Hollywood. "Table for Two" is another captivating addition to Towles's collection of stylish and transporting fiction written with his signature wit, humor, and sophistication.
March is the Tenth Month of Record Heat
In March 2024, Earth broke the record for global heat for the 10th month in a row. According to Copernicus, the European Union climate agency, the air temperatures and oceans worldwide reached an all-time high. The average temperature for March 2024 was 14.14 degrees Celsius (57.9 degrees Fahrenheit), a tenth of a degree higher than the previous record from 2016. This temperature was 1.68 degrees Celsius (3 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer than the late 1800s, which was used as a base for temperatures before the increase in fossil fuel burning.
